Atlanta Winter Ice Storm

I just got home after flying into Atlanta tonight. About 6 hours ago, before I got on my flight, I talked to my mother, who was having trouble getting home because of the car wrecks caused by the icy weather in Atlanta.

Mom’s house is in a more rural area, outside of the city, so I figure a few accidents had blocked things up. It was a bit more than that. As I got off the plane, I heard a girl say that there had been 90 accidents in my parents’ county. On the radio on my drive home, that count was up to 123 accidents.

Luckily, I managed to avoid all highways getting to my house, because pretty much every major highway in Atlanta is blocked due to traffic right now. Mom is still not home. Once she gets to our neighborhood, she’ll have to park and walk a mile to get to our house, since the roads in the neighborhood are so icy.

So, we’re waiting up to hear from her, and I hope everyone else stuck out on the roads makes it home safely, if slowly! A bunch of the accidents have been caused by people who think that they can go fast trying to pass someone being slow and safe - and then both of those cars end up wrecked. Drive carefully!
